PAN RECORDS ANNOUNCES BRANDON McPHEE’S NEW SINGLE AND TRIBUTE ALBUM HONOURING SIR JIMMY SHAND

Pan Records is proud to announce the release of Brandon McPhee’s vibrant new single, Don’t Sit on My Jimmy Shands, out 1st June on physical and digital platforms. The track is a spirited cover of the much-loved song written by Richard Thompson OBE, and serves as a lively tribute to Scotland’s rich musical heritage.

Brandon delivers a fresh twist with his signature blend of Scottish and country influences, underpinned by his exceptional accordion skills and engaging vocal style. The release marks a heartfelt homage to one of his earliest musical heroes, Sir Jimmy Shand, the legendary accordionist who brought traditional Scottish dance music to an international audience.

Following the single, Brandon’s full-length tribute album, The Music of Sir Jimmy Shand, will be released on 25th June. Featuring 13 tracks of Shand’s most celebrated compositions, the album honours the 25th anniversary of Shand’s passing and stands as a powerful testament to his enduring legacy. The album also includes a special duet with Robert Lovie titled Jimmy Shand – The Legend.

Brandon McPhee’s musical journey began at the age of 10, inspired in part by Sir Jimmy Shand. By 17, he had won the prestigious All-Scotland Accordion Championship, and since then has composed nearly 30 traditional tunes and multiple original songs. Five of his compositions have been recognised in the UK Songwriting Contest, with one reaching the finals. Today, Brandon is regarded as one of the leading lights in traditional Scottish and country music, admired for his artistry, versatility, and devotion to the genre.

Don’t Sit on My Jimmy Shands is a playful nod to the era of 78rpm records, and this tribute release is set to captivate both long-time fans of traditional music and a new generation of listeners alike.
