I recorded “Give My Love to Rose” about six years ago now. Being a lifelong Johnny Cash fan, it’s always been one of my favourite songs. I’ve admired Johnny for as long as I can remember — his honesty, his storytelling, and the way he could connect with people through a song.
One day I heard the track again and thought, why not give it a go myself? I wanted to put my own twist on it, so we recorded it and filmed a music video with Pan Records. We posted it online and, over the years, it slowly built up around 200,000 views — which I was already chuffed about.
Then, out of nowhere, it started taking off again. In just the last three months, it’s gone completely viral and now has over 1.8 million views! Honestly, I can’t quite believe it.
It means so much to me that people all over the world are still discovering, listening to, and enjoying the song. One of the comments even said I’ve now got more views on this version than Johnny Cash himself — at least online, that’s true! (If only I had a few more like this one, eh?)
